The students of the Beijing Qian Xuesen High School (Pekingese) and their accompanying teachers are staying in Blankenberge from September 29 to October 5. They will spend two days at SJSP and two days at the Maerlant Atheneum, on October 2 and 3.

Today, October 2, they were warmly welcomed at the Maerlant Atheneum by headmaster Jürgen Balbaert. A buffet-style breakfast was ready for them in the teachers’ dining hall. Afterwards, the headmaster gave them a tour of the school. This was followed by a sports class, and then lunch. In the afternoon, they attended a few lessons… English and artistic education.

The Maerlant students, who already took part in the first part of the exchange program earlier this year, are fifth-year pupils: Iona Metaj, Amber Gurdebeke, Juna Simoens, Amy Gallant, and Jinte Lagae.

The project is led by Martine De Bruyne, who completed her teacher training at RNS Blankenberge in 1981 and is now a staff member at the Belle Époque Center.
